The Tag-Z Magnesium Fire Starter is a replica of the Doan Government Military Fire Starter, adopted by the US Armed Forces for use in their survival kits.
The Doan company went out of business and is not making these anymore, and Tag-Z wanted to continue on, so they had these Doan replica fire starters manufactured especially for them using the exact specs from the originals.
- BIGGER SIZE – The TAG-Z Doan replica is just a bit bigger than the original so it has more magnesium and the ferro rod is a bit bigger and will give you more strikes to get that white hot flame going! Tag-Z Magnesium Bars are 3″ x 1 1/8″ x 3/8″.
- HOW IT WORKS – Scrape the Shaving Edge with a blade to get a pile of shavings on to your tinder. Simply scrape the “sparking insert” to ignite the shavings. Lighting instructions are in the pictures on the listing.
